There has never been a more important time to protect the multitude of stories that built this nation.

The McKenna Museums are more than an organization they are living spaces where Black history is preserved, celebrated, and shared.

Our mission is clear we highlight and uplift Black narratives that have been locked out of the broader American narrative. By truth-telling, we teach the richness and diversity of the Black experience and how it has shaped every corner of this city, state, and country.

Cultural preservation is not a luxury it is a necessity. When people see themselves reflected, they connect more deeply, they discover more fully. By adding the multitude of Black stories to America’s story, we reaffirm our communities. Because representation matters not just on screens, but in our museums and cultural institutions too.

But we can’t do it without you. Your support by visiting, donating, and spreading the word helps cover the vital operational costs that keep our doors open, our exhibits vibrant, and our programs thriving. Every dollar goes directly to sustaining this amazing space and ensuring this cultural legacy can endure.

Black history is New Orleans history, is Louisiana history, is American History. And together, we will make sure it is never silenced.
